Educational Qualification

For different streams, SEBI has set specific qualification rules:

General Stream: Master’s Degree or Post Graduate Diploma (minimum 2 years) in any discipline / Bachelor’s Degree in Law / Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering / Chartered Accountant / Company Secretary / Cost Accountant / CFA.
Legal Stream: Bachelor’s Degree in Law with at least two years of experience as an Advocate preferred.
Information Technology Stream: Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering in any branch or Bachelor’s Degree in any discipline with a 2-year postgraduate qualification in Computer Science, IT, or related field.
Research Stream: Master’s Degree or PG Diploma in Economics, Commerce, Business Administration, Finance, Statistics, Data Science, or equivalent.
Official Language Stream: Master’s Degree in Hindi or Hindi Translation with English at Graduation Level or vice versa.
Engineering (Electrical/Civil): Bachelor’s Degree in respective discipline with relevant experience preferred.

Age Limit

Candidates must not be more than 30 years of age as of September 30, 2025, meaning they must have been born on or after October 1, 1995. However, SEBI offers relaxation as per Government norms:

SC/ST: 5 years
OBC (Non-Creamy Layer): 3 years
PwBD: Up to 10–15 years depending on category
Ex-Servicemen: 5 years

Salary Details

SEBI Officer Grade A salary ranges from ₹62,500 to 1,26,100. The starting monthly pay is about ₹1,84,000 without accommodation and ₹1,43,000 with accommodation in Mumbai. Officers also get benefits like NPS, family allowance, dearness allowance, and other perks.

Application Process

Interested and eligible candidates can apply online at www.sebi.gov.in from October 30, 2025, to November 28, 2025. Applications can be made only through the online mode. Candidates need to register, upload their photo, signature, and handwritten declaration, and pay the application fee online.

Application Fee

The application fee for unreserved, OBC and EWS candidates is ₹1,000 plus 18% GST. For SC, ST and PwBD candidates, the fee is ₹100 plus 18% GST. Once the fee is paid, it is non-refundable under any circumstances.

Selection Process

The SEBI selection process will be completed in three stages:

Phase I: Online screening examination (two papers, 100 marks each) – January 10, 2026
Phase II: Online exam (two papers, 100 marks each) – February 21, 2026
Phase III: Interview (dates will be announced later)

Final merit will be based on marks obtained in Phase II (85%) and Interview (15%).
